FIU At The Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl: My Amazing Experience

I have only been to one bowl game (Orange Bowl 2011 – Virginia Tech vs Stanford) prior to the Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl on Tuesday. I was devastated that I was not able to make it up to Detroit to cheer on FIU at the Little Ceaser’s Bowl last year. So I was super ecstatic when it was announced that the Panthers were going bowling in St. Petersburg. St. Pete is only about a 3 1/2 hour drive away from me. The whole experience was just amazing for me. Even though FIU did lose the game, that did not get me down. We were blessed with a wonderful season. Plus, I was surrounded by great people who I call my FIU Family.

Have A FIU Panther-iffic Thanksgiving!

As Panthers, we have a lot to be thankful for. We have this amazing campus in Miami full of so many vibrant cultures. As Panthers, we can also be thankful for many sports-related things that we have experienced recently.

5. I am sure we are all very thankful for winning  our first Sun Belt Conference Championship in football as well as our first bowl game. Now, we are hoping we can make it to a bowl again this year. We have come a very long way, and we are not finished yet!

4. I am also thankful to have that Shula Bowl trophy back at The Cage! Let’s keep it there, mmkay?

3. Let’s also be thankful we still have Isiah Thomas coaching our men’s basketball team. I don’t think anyone expected him to stick around this long. This year’s team is supposed to be much improved, so here’s to hoping for a successful season!

2. Wesley Carroll. Say what you want, but the QB has led this team last year and this year as well. He will be missed once he graduates.

1. T.Y. Hilton. It’s self-explanatory. Need I say more?

Whether you have lechon or turkey this Thanksgiving, have a great one! Panthers on the rise!

FIU Panthers Take Down The Warhawks At ULM

FIU beat ULM (University of Louisiana at Monroe) 28-17 Saturday night, making the Panthers 7-4 so far this season. QB, Wesley Carroll came back to the field since Jake Medlock left the game after the second offensive play of the game with what looked like a shoulder injury. Carroll threw three touchdown passes.

T.Y. Hilton was fired up again with 76 receiving yards on four catches. Hilton also scored on a 58-yard touchdown catch. Congratulations are in order for Glenn Coleman and Colt Anderson, who both got their first touchdown catches of their careers. Jonathan Cyprien deserves a congratulations also for his interception return for a touchdown, making it the first of his career as well.

FIU Loses Heartbreaker to ULL

Not many happy Panthers last night after the FIU Football lost their first game of the season to the University of Louisiana (Lafayette) Rajin’ Cajuns.  But don’t lose hope yet. The Panthers were able to play hard without T.Y. Hilton and QB Wes Carroll. Hilton, who was hurt at the game against UCF, saw little playing time.

Carroll was hurt when his foot caught by ULL’s Bernard Smith. Carroll tried and tried to pull his foot away but failed. Backup QB, red shirt freshman, Jake Medlock, came in for Carroll. Medlock threw 216 yards. Medlock made many mistakes, but I think he could be a good replacement for Carroll next season.

Panthers lost 36-31, but will come back to face off against Duke on October 1st at The Cage. Game is set to begin at 7:00 PM.
