Football Wins Again!
Today was a good day for FIU. The football team beat Middle Tennessee 31-18. The win marked a 8-4 regular season record, the best record the Panthers have ever had so far in program history. Jonathan Faucher, Kedrick Rhodes, T.Y. Hilton, and Jeremiah Harden each scored a touchdown. Hilton’s touchdown marks his seventh receiving TD of the season, tying his own record in 2008 and Cory McKinney in 2002.
Defense was spectacular, especially in the first quarter. They did not allow MTSU to score and held them to only eight yards. Gregory Hackman and Justin Halley each got an interception.
This win improves FIU’s bowl chances. Now, we just need to hope we get an invitation.

FIU beat ULM (University of Louisiana at Monroe) 28-17 Saturday night, making the Panthers 7-4 so far this season. QB, Wesley Carroll came back to the field since Jake Medlock left the game after the second offensive play of the game with what looked like a shoulder injury. Carroll threw three touchdown passes.
T.Y. Hilton was fired up again with 76 receiving yards on four catches. Hilton also scored on a 58-yard touchdown catch. Congratulations are in order for Glenn Coleman and Colt Anderson, who both got their first touchdown catches of their careers. Jonathan Cyprien deserves a congratulations also for his interception return for a touchdown, making it the first of his career as well.

FIU lost to Western Kentucky 10-9. 10-9! I told you WKU was not the same team they were before. However, this was a winnable game. FIU thinks they are the Miami Dolphins again due to scoring on field goals. Hmm.. lots to think about, Panthers. Same silly penalties (from the same guys). Ugh. I feel like we are a much better team than what we seem. We just need to act like it.
We lost due to a last second field goal. Funny thing is, WKU’s kicker was horrible. He missed a couple field goals (including one that was blocked), but made the one that counted by sealing the win for them. Drat.
Enough of my ranting. Time to regroup and get ready for FAU.
Here’s the full story on the game.

FIU beat Troy 23-20 in what was arguably the most stressful game this season. Fumbles and silly penalties killed us tonight, but we came out with a win and that’s what counts. The game was won in overtime with a field goal from the 22-yard line from Jack Griffin. WR, Wayne Times, ended up #3 on ESPN Top 10 Plays for the night with an amazing 76 yard touchdown.

Not many happy Panthers last night after the FIU Football lost their first game of the season to the University of Louisiana (Lafayette) Rajin’ Cajuns. But don’t lose hope yet. The Panthers were able to play hard without T.Y. Hilton and QB Wes Carroll. Hilton, who was hurt at the game against UCF, saw little playing time.
Carroll was hurt when his foot caught by ULL’s Bernard Smith. Carroll tried and tried to pull his foot away but failed. Backup QB, red shirt freshman, Jake Medlock, came in for Carroll. Medlock threw 216 yards. Medlock made many mistakes, but I think he could be a good replacement for Carroll next season.
Panthers lost 36-31, but will come back to face off against Duke on October 1st at The Cage. Game is set to begin at 7:00 PM.

T.Y. Hilton greets fans after a home game in 2010.
Who would’ve thought 10 years ago that we would be talking about one of our guys possibly being a Heisman Trophy candidate? That possibly is here, folks. T.Y. Hilton has been brought up by ESPN, for example, as a Heisman candidate.
Check out the links below.
Let’s hope T.Y. keeps it up going beast mode so he can get more attention. Remember Panthers, turn the impossible to the inevitable.

With FAU and UNT getting new beautiful football stadiums, this news will be music to your ears. It is about time that FIU announces it will finish enclosing the football stadium. The north side stands, where fans of the visiting team sit, will be torn down. Construction is set to begin on November 13, the day after the last home game of the season vs. FAU. It should be complete for the 2012 season. The second deck is set to be added later on.
For all the details, check out the complete plans.

It was a rainy night in a packed FIU Stadium Thursday. The game was delayed due to lightning, but nothing stopped the fans from rattling the cage. Nothing stopped the players from playing their hearts out at home in front of thousands of students, alumni, and fans.
