Another Heartbreaking Loss For FIU Football

It was all fine and dandy once FIU was up 21-7 against the Troy Trojans. However, Troy came back and scored again. At halftime, the score was 24-14. You would think that after being up 37-21, that the Panther would pull it off.

Of course, silly mistakes like missing an extra point came back to bite us in the butt. Troy scores another touchdown and the score is now 37-35. Ok, now Panther fans are starting to get into panic mode. A little over a minute left in the game and Troy drives 69 yards. They had no timeouts left. They kick a field goal, making the score 38-37.

FIU Falls To Duke 46-26

Welp, FIU loses to Duke 46-26. We have a lot to think about before facing Akron next week. The FIU defense was pretty nonexistent.

Kedrick Rhodes, by the way, is the guy to watch. He scored two touchdowns for FIU. For more deets on the disappointing game, FIU student media has a recap up.

Panther Bytes: TY Hilton And Richard Pitino

TY Hilton by Stephanie Diorio

TY Hilton On Sundays?

We’ve seen him play on Saturdays with FIU and will see him play on Sundays with a mystery NFL team. Where in the NFL will TY Hilton end up?

I may be biased, but I want him to become a Miami Dolphin… pretty badly too. Actually, if you listened to Dan LeBatard today, he predicted TY to become a Dolphin. Not sure if it’ll happen, but we will see.

Wherever TY ends up, I will be thrilled for him, no matter what. (Yes, even if he becomes a New York Jet. It’ll hurt though.)

Who will draft TY Hilton this weekend?

FIU At The Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl: My Amazing Experience

I have only been to one bowl game (Orange Bowl 2011 – Virginia Tech vs Stanford) prior to the Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl on Tuesday. I was devastated that I was not able to make it up to Detroit to cheer on FIU at the Little Ceaser’s Bowl last year. So I was super ecstatic when it was announced that the Panthers were going bowling in St. Petersburg. St. Pete is only about a 3 1/2 hour drive away from me. The whole experience was just amazing for me. Even though FIU did lose the game, that did not get me down. We were blessed with a wonderful season. Plus, I was surrounded by great people who I call my FIU Family.

Nelly Films Video At FIU Stadium Featuring Some Special Guests

I am sure most of you are watching bowl games tonight, right? Did anyone see what I saw? During dinner with my husband, Max, we were watching a Nelly video on ESPN. We both looked at each other when we noticed that Nelly had filmed his video at FIU Stadium. Awesome!

We found a short version featuring what seems like the FIU drumline on YouTube. Check it out.

Here is the longer version, which was shown on ESPN. It is a really neat video in general.

FIU Panthers Occupy Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl Page On Facebook

To some, we may be considered “small”, but when we get together, we show how big we really are. FIU Golden Panther fans have been taking over the official Facebook fan page for the Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl in St. Petersburg. I woke up this morning and saw some tweets asking fans to head on over to the fan page and post why they need to invite us to play at St. Pete. Fans have definitely let their presence known.

FIU fans are also planning on invading the Beef ‘O’ Brady’s in Cooper City tomorrow night at 7:00 PM. The address for the restaurant is 8655 Sterling Road, Cooper City, 33328. I love Beef ‘O’ Brady’s. I used to eat there with my sister in Atlanta. They have great fries and I hear they have amazing chicken wings as well.

The FIU Family Thanks You, T.Y. Hilton

Without a doubt, T.Y. Hilton, has put FIU on the map. Words can’t describe how much we are going to miss him around here. The good thing is, we will have Sundays to look forward to to catch some Hilton action!

The drawing above is by my fellow Aerys writer, Stephanie Diorio. You can follow Stephanie’s blogs: Nine Shot First: Stanford Baseball & Charm City Yakyuu: Baltimore Orioles. Steph is also the junior correspondent to the Fenway Fatales: Boston Red Sox blog.

Check out this awesome story on T.Y. and his family by my friend, Pete Pelegrin. It was written early this year.
