Some of the FIU Panthers better get ready for the many changes coming their way as they get drafted into the MLB.
- Junior RF, Jabari Henry, just got drafted 18th round by the Seattle Mariners.
- While first baseman, Rudy Flores, was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 21st round.
- Pitcher, Mason McVay, was taken 26th round by the San Francisco Giants. No word if Sheila , who went missing at the end of the baseball season, is tagging along.
- Third baseman, Mike Martinez, was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 36th round.
Congrats all around!

I giggled when I saw this tweet by the totally awesome Pete Pelegrin. Apparently, the bus taking the FIU baseball team to Bethune Cookman broke down. Bored out of their minds, they decided to go cricket hunting.
I figured this would make for a funny caption this. And….. go!

FIU has announced that Isiah Thomas is out as men’s basketball head coach. Thomas came to FIU in 2009. During his time at FIU, Thomas had a record of 26-65 within three years. This past season, the team had a sad record of 8-21.
Athletic Director, Pete Garcia, released a statement with the following:
“I want to thank Isiah Thomas for his three years at FIU. However, we have decided to take the program in a different direction.”
I guess that was a nice way to say, “We don’t want to suck anymore.” We are thankful for what Thomas brought to the university, but it did not work out. Happy trails, Mr. Thomas!

Friday night was tons of fun at the FIU football spring game. It is always so awesome to attend the event just to get a dose of football before the season officially kicks off. After the football scrimmage, fans made the walk over to the baseball stadium to take in some Sun Belt conference action between the Panthers and ULM.
You can read about how Laranzo Hammonds stole the show with the 69-yard touchdown here, but I have got some pictures for you to enjoy.

If you know me, you will know I am a big music lover. I always like checking out what baseball players use as walk up songs.
So if you are wondering what song your favorite FIU baseball player is using this year, I am here to save your day.
Now, remember, kids, these songs may have something in the lyrics or the video that some may find offensive. You have been warned.

FIU got swept by the FAU Owls. The FAU Owls. Our conference rivals. That team you need to beat!
We are 8-10 in the season and 0-3 in conference play. Some people would start getting ready to hit the panic button soon, but I am not.
However, I think it is time that the Panthers need to regroup and work hard on getting things right before they continue conference play against the WKU Hilltoppers next weekend.
Pitching needs some major help. So does defense. We can not let errors happen. Errors have been costing us big time.
A good thing did happen on Sunday’s game though. Senior first baseman, Mike Martinez, broke former Panther’s Tyler Townsend’s career RBI record at FIU. Martinez hit a home run, his first this season, in the sixth inning. Congrats to Mike.

I am dying to know what Marlins manager, Ozzie Guillen, was telling FIU baseball head coach, Turtle Thomas, that was making him laugh so much. Ozzie is just a funny guy. By the look on Turtle’s face, I am sure whatever he said was hilarious.

FIU may have lost to the Fordham Rams from the Bronx 10-8, yet I still found myself laughing. Honestly, the game was frustrating. Jabari Henry and Pablo Bermudez were both out with injuries. Adam Kirsch got hurt too.
Defense was struggling. Too bad we weren’t able to beat them. But laughing at some things Fordham coaches and fans did made me crack up.
If you want to read more about the game, clicky clicky for the deets.
