Through the first 6 innings, the A’s only had 3 hits and 3 runs, but a big 7th inning (4 H, 2 BB and 5 runs) would eventually lead to them defeating the Brewers 8-6.
Lines of the Day:
- Andrew Carignan: 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 Runs, 3 Strikeouts. Carignan had a really nice outing for the A’s today, he only allowed one hit and struck out the side in the fifth inning.
Ugly Lines of the Day:
- Brian Fuentes: 1 IP, 3 H, 4 Runs (4 earned), 1 BB. This ugly outing comes one day after Bob Melvin announced that the closer job is now down to him and Grant Balfour.
Worth Mentioning:
- Jarrod Parker pitched 3.1 innings today, he allowed 2 hits and 0 runs, 3 BB while striking out 4. He loaded the bases in the first inning, had a clean third and allowed two base runners in the second.
- Yoenis Cespedes went 0-3 with 2 strikeouts.
- Manny Ramirez had his first hit this Spring, which also happened to be a home run. He went 1-2 with a walk.
- Josh Reddick also had his first home run in Spring Training, it came off of (RHP) Tim Dillard in the 6th inning.
- The A’s errorless streak has ended at two games, there were 3 errors in the game, Jarrod Parker and Kurt Suzuki both had their first errors this Spring, while Josh Donaldson had his third.
Tomorrow is an off day for the A’s, but they will be back on Thursday when they face the Texas Rangers . (RHP) Bartolo Colon will be making his third Spring Training start and the game will begin at 1:05 PST.
