Here’s the good news: the Orioles won a baseball game. Nolan Reimold hit a walk-off homer in the 10th. Sadly, this gave the win to undeserving reliever Michael Gonzalez, but a win’s a win.
The win should have gone to Tommy Hunter, who went 6 2/3 tonight, only giving up two runs. This is good by Orioles standards, so he got a huge ovation as he left the game with two runners on. Jason Berken promptly gave up a double to bring those runners home, of course.
At least we won, though.
The bad news is that Hot Arrieta has opted for season-ending surgery, which will remove the bone spur in his elbow but will leave everyone mourning him for the rest of the season. This is because they will not be able to look at him and the team has lost his ability to magnetically attract runs.
Darn. One step forward, two steps back. At least Britton was cleared for rehab.
