New Orleans Saints stay perfect, win over Miami Dolphins (38-17)

The New Orleans Saints shined for Monday Night Football beating the Miami Dolphins, 38-17. With the win over the previously unbeaten Dolphins, the Saints improve to 4-0.

Drew Brees had his ninth consecutive game with 300+ passing yards. Brees has now tied himself for that NFL record. Brees finished the night with 413 yards and four TDs.

Running back Darren Sproles was the Saints leading receiver with 114 yards and a TD. Sproles tacked on an additional

28 yards of rushing and a 5-yard TD run. Jimmy Graham scored twice on passes from Brees of 27-yards and 46-yards, respectively. Tight end Benjamin Watson caught a 4-yard TD pass.

Things weren’t all butterflies and daisies for the Saints. Garrett Hartley missed a field goal, which in a tighter game would’ve have mattered more. And I’m sad to say that Sproles had his first fumble with the team.

Saints fans have to be happy about the complete turnaround of the Saints defense this season thus far. The defense seized on opportunities. Jabari Greer, Chris Carr and Will Herring each had interceptions, and Curtis Lofton forced a fumble.

The Saints defense’s good night meant it was a rough one for Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill. Those interceptions were costly for the Dolphins. Tannehill ended the night with 249 passing yards, 48 rushing yards, and a touchdown. Charles Clay scored on a three-yard pass from Tannehill. Lamar Miller was the game’s leading rusher with 68 yards and a TD.

The Saints are on the road to meet the Chicago Bears in Week 5.
