Not A Shocker: Extended Episodes Of As The Conferences Turn

Just a day after the Big East went in and announced that East Carolina (football only) and Tulane were joining the conference starting in 2014, the ACC dropped some major news: Louisville will replace Maryland, who is leaving to go to the B1G. No date has been announced at the time of this article, but it is being speculated that it will also be 2014, when the Terps head westward.

ACC Commish, which probably just saved the conference, or at least eased Florida State’s mind in the bailing process, had this to say about adding the Cardinals:

With its aggressive approach to excellence in every respect, the University of Louisville will enhance our league’s culture and commitment to the cornerstones we were founded on 60 years ago. The University of Louisville is an outstanding addition to the Atlantic Coast Conference and I commend the Council of Presidents for continuing to position our league for the long-term future. If you look at what has been done over the last 15 months, the ACC has only gotten stronger with the additions of Louisville, Notre Dame, Pitt and Syracuse.

A very decent add for the ACC in all aspects of sports.

WAIT, THERE’S MORE!

Remember how just yesterday the Big East poached its 5th and 6th Conference USA team? Well, it is being reported now that the CUSA is now adding FAU and MTSU. FAU will be reunited, and it feels so good, to their cross-state rival FIU. Middle Tennessee State, if you remember, went in and upset Georgia Tech this year in football. Both schools were members of the Sun Belt conference. Pretty quick reaction time for the CUSA admin.

With the add of FAU and MTSU, CUSA is back up to 13 members.

If you don’t like conference realignment, I don’t see it stopping anytime. So, sorry about your luck.
