Spring Training Preview: Mariners vs. Rangers

Try to forget that the Rangers won more games against Seattle in 2011 than they’ve ever won against a single opponent in a single season. Try to forget that they’re American League Champs two years running.

This is Spring Training. The Mariners are 7-3. The Rangers are 3-5. Anything can happen.

Today’s lineups:

Seattle: CF Figgins, SS Ryan, RF Ichiro, DH Montero, LF Carp, C Olivo, 1B Liddi, 3B Catricala, 2B Kawasaki, RHP Beavan.

Texas: SS Elvis Andrus, 2B Greg Miclat, DH Josh Hamilton, 2B Adrian Beltre, 1B Michael Young, RF Nelson Cruz, LF David Murphy, C Yorvit Torrealba, CF Leonys Martin, LHP Matt Harrison.

Blake Beavan is one of several players still in the hunt for a rotation spot, according to Greg Johns. His competition includes Hisashi Iwakuma, Hector Noesi, and Erasmo Ramirez.

Can the Mariners beat the almost-World Champions?
