Mariners Postgame Recap: Same Story

Final score: Orioles 4, Mariners 2

We’ve all seen this happen far too often. There’s no point in rehashing the same statistics that have reared their ugly heads in countless games this year. The Mariners’ offense was bad against a bad pitcher. The Mariners’ pitching was bad against a bad offense. The injuries sustained in the game were bad.

Chris Tillman made his first start of the year for the Orioles and all he managed to do was allow one hit over the first eight innings of the game - one ground ball single that very well could have been snagged by J.J. Hardy at shortstop. While the Mariners came back to score a couple in the ninth, their effort was futile as they dropped yet another game.

Jesus Montero got hit in the head behind the plate and is reported to have a mild concussion. With the All-Star break coming up, he will probably see minimal playing time, if any, over the next couple games.

It’s the Fourth of July. Go watch some fireworks, because there definitely weren’t any to be found at Safeco Field this afternoon.
