Tigers Still One Back

Miguel Cabrera deserves a lot more MVP talk at this point.

Last night was one of those games if you were late to the television for the start of the game, you mind as well just watch the recap.

All of the action took place in the first two innings where the Tigers would score the only four runs they would need, beating the Cleveland Indians 4-0.

Four singles in the top of the first by Miguel Cabrera, Prince Fielder, Delmon Young and Brennan Boesch would account for the first two runs.

In the top of the second Alex Avila was walked, Austin Jackson hit a double and scored Avila.  With Jackson on second, Cabrera hit a single to center to score Jackson.

Justin Verlander went seven innings giving up six hits and one walk, while striking out six.  Last nights win was Verlander’s 14th of the season.

The Chicago White Soxs beat the Minnesota Twins last night 6-0 so the Tigers are still one game back in the AL Central.

Detroit takes on Cleveland at 4:05p.m. with Anibal Sanchez and Justin Masterson taking the mound.
