Sprint Cup: RCR’s Baby On Board & Daytona Four Car Special

Divorce rumors? Wrong. DeLana Harvick is actually fourteen weeks pregnant.

Good morning, folks.  I’m a happy camper today because I have great news on all fronts from Richard Childress Racing today.

One of those announcements comes courtesy of AutoSport.com which confirms that RCR is going to run four cars for the first five races of the 2012 Sprint Cup series.

The drivers who will be sharing the driving duties are Elliott Sadler and Brendan Gaughn.  The reason RCR was “downsizing” from four to three cars was due Clint Bowyer’s departure after the 2011 season concluded.

I love this announcement because this gives Elliott Sadler a chance to win the very coveted Daytona 500.

I would literally puke a rainbow if he won the race.  Just note that for the record, please.

Okay, so the second annoucnement I’m extremely excited about because it involves our NASCAR “baby boom” we reported to you last year and USA Today confirmed that Kevin and DeLana have joined the crowd.

Kevin confirmed Wednesday night that DeLana is fourteen weeks pregnant!  There were rumors flying around that they were getting a divorce because back at the end of 2011 KHI closed their doors and merged with RCR.

Apparently this was enough grounds to assume the Harvick’s were getting a divorce.  Whoever started that rumor should be hung by their toes from the nearest tree, thank you very much.

You Know It’s The Offseason When…

Greg and Nicole Biffle with the family minus baby Emma at the time. (photo credit: Greg Biffle Foundation)

Your favorite NASCAR drivers are scheduled to make an appearance on “Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan” and this is not a test of the emergency broadcast system.  This is real.

This announcement was so huge that NASCAR had to make an official press release about it.  Again, not joking.

I will be tuning in because I’m a dog lover myself.  I have two of them in our family and they’re treated better than I am.

Again, this is a very serious non-joking article.

For real though, Greg Biffle and Kevin Harvick are the two drivers scheduled to make the appearance on or around February 17-18th at Daytona Beach, Florida.

You Say It’s Your Birthday: Happy Birthday Ryan Newman & Kevin Harvick!

Why yes, these two NASCAR tough guys are both capable of smiling. It's rare, but does happen.

We have two HUGE birthdays to celebrate today for two awesome drivers in NASCAR.  With that being said I am proud to introduce my fellow Sagittarius birthday boys Ryan Newman and Kevin Harvick!

Ryan Newman was born on December 8, 1977 and celebrates his 34th birthday today.  Kevin Harvick was born on Deccember 8, 1975 and celebrates his 36th birthday today!

Both drivers made the 2011 Chase for the Sprint Cup, one happens to be a Hoosier and drive for my favorite driver in all the world and the other driver is known as “Happy” and is one of the best Twitter feeds one can subscribe to, seriously.

So boys, Happy Birthday to you both, best wishes for 2012 and may you not feel old today as I will one week from today.  Cheers!

NCWTS: 6 Points And 2 Penalties Puts A 3 Back In Championship Victory Lane

Nothing like a champagne shower for the Champion. (Yes, he is old enough at 21.)

Rain?  Check.  Kevin Harvick scrapping with someone? Check.  Potential for Austin Dillon to lose his points lead?  Check.

The only things this NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race missed were fuel mileage racing and Kyle Busch driving someone into the wall.  We would have had a season’s worth of drama in just 2.5 hours.

Johnny Sauter did everything he possible could to win this race and the championship tonight.  He led the most laps and won the race, but it was just six points shy of overtaking Austin Dillon for the points lead and the trophy.

Too bad the damage was done to Sauter’s championship hopes prior to tonight.

NCWTS: NASCAR, Park Him!

Make no mistake, this was ALL Kyle.

Kyle Busch needs to be done for the rest of this weekend, if not the rest of the season.

It’s clear that putting him on probation both in his professional life and personal life has had no effect.  Kyle still removes his brain just about every chance he gets.  This truck race was no exception.

Kyle Busch got into it with Ron Hornaday on lap 15 of the truck race.  Kyle was running outside of Hornaday who got loose with some 3-wide racing.  Hornaday slid up and both he and Busch tapped the wall a little.  Their trucks were not damaged to the point of ending their night, until Kyle couldn’t keep his temper under control.  Kyle Busch hooked Hornaday’s truck until he put him into the wall…hard.

Hornaday could have been hurt.  Badly.

NSCS: AAA 400 Preview- The Monster, A Hat Trick, and The ESPN Nickname

The NASCAR Sprint Cup series is making their return visit to the Monster Mile at Dover International Speedway.  This is a mile track that, like New Hampshire, involves more finesse than horsepower.  Those that hit their marks in the corners have the best chance at being around for the checkers at the end.  Miss those marks and the Monster will chew you up in a hurry.

The Monster:

When the NSCS came to Dover earlier this year, it was right before we started our little website that could.  In fact, we were still posting over at the Kitchen Sink.  If you’d like a refresher in what Morgann and I had to say then, please feel free to click here for the preview and here for the post-race.

Let’s just summarize and say that both Morgann and I expected twisted sheet metal and endless drama.  We were treated to hugs, flowers, and fluffy kittens and puppies.  This was NOT the normal Monster race or mentality.  Some of the boys were newly penalized for this race in May and everyone was big picture racing.

This will no longer be the case.

NSCS: Sylvania 300- Nothin’ But Smoke and Mirrors

Where else can you win a checkered flag, a trophy, and a lobster?

Did you hear that screaming and cheering earlier this evening?  That was our very own Morgann Spicer cheering her driver, Tony Stewart, to his second victory in just as many races.  Was this really the guy that just a few weeks ago said they didn’t deserve to make the Chase?  This is the drama that NASCAR was looking for when they created the Chase.

Somewhere, Mike Helton is twisting his moustache and giggling with menacing glee.

Every sport loves their “Cinderella” story and it seems that Tony Stewart is finding his glass slipper.  Remember this race last year?  Tony was leading the race when he ran out of fuel giving Clint Bowyer the win.  This year?  The race finished with the mirror image of that.  Clint Bowyer was leading with just 2 laps to glory when he ran out of fuel giving Smoke the back to back Chase wins.

I don’t think that anyone, except Morgann, would have predicted Smoke to be the belle of the ball after just two races.  Cue the bandwagon jumpers.

NCWTS: Fast Five 225- The Return of the Slide

When Austin Dillon took the checkers at Chicagoland Speedway for the Fast Five 150, I wondered what his victory celebration would be.  He tried the slide through the grass at Nashville Speedway, and got stopped by the paint, and nearly tumbled over.  I figured that he would still be searching for his perfect celebration.

Nope, he has been working on perfecting the slide.

Austin Dillon even said that he kicked the painted surface of the grass when he came up for driver intros and realized that it would stick.  This time, he stayed out of the paint and slid nicely on the grass.  I’m not completely on board with this celebration, but it is all his own.  He’s only 21 and has plenty of time and opportunities to perfect that celebration.

NSCS at Richmond: Harvick finds his happy place amongst his Buds in Victory Lane

I wish I could say I swigged a few of these down myself last night, but my brain hurt too much after last night's race.

If fans were looking for short track mayhem Saturday night, they didn’t need to look any further than Richmond International Raceway.

Mayhem doesn’t even begin to cover what craziness ensued in the Sprint Cup Series.

Dale Earnhardt, Jr. fans could breathe at the night’s end because Dale made the Chase.

Tony Stewart fans saved themselves a trip to the emergency room from heart failure because he made the Chase as well.

Jimmie Johnson and Kurt Busch reared their ugly heads yet again and had words with the media (but not with each other – whimps) after the race’s end and let’s just say “it’s on” for the Chase between those two.  Shocking.

Oh, and did I mention there were fifteen caution flags that flew including one very important, last caution that cost Jeff Gordon the victory?

Yeah, crazy night.  Come with me and let’s reminisce.
