NNS: Great Clips 300: Fastenal, Frenemies, and Facial Hair

Carl Edwards flips after taking the checkers for his 6th Nationwide win of the season.

Race fans, if you tuned out of this race at about halfway, I would understand.  Unfortunately, you ended up missing the best part of this race.  Things got dicey with about 50 laps to go, and the excitement level didn’t ease up until after the checkers.

NASCAR Nationwide Series: A Long, Hard Road

After all the mayhem and craziness, Reed Sorenson finally came out on top as Saturday's Nationwide race winner. (photo courtesy of www.greenbaypressgazette.com)

The NASCAR Nationwide Series was not to be outdone by their big brother series Sprint Cup this weekend.  Though they are not partnered up at Sonoma, the Nationwide series had their work cut out for them at a road course of their own.  NNS raced this weekend at the Road America course in Elkhart Lake, WI.  This is only their second race at this track, and if they are all as eventful as this one, I wish NNS to race there every weekend!

Prelude to the Dream: Back to Their Roots

Sometimes it is fun to go back to your past and relive your youth.  The Prelude to the Dream gives some of racing’s best a chance to do just that.

The Prelude is a charity event hosted by Eldora Speedway, a track owned by Tony Stewart.  It is a half-mile dirt track that has hosted events for USAC, ARCA, and World of Outlaws just to name a few.  The car of choice for the Prelude is a Dirt Late Model.  The Prelude boasts some big names from NASCAR, Indy Racing League, and NHRA.

Driver of the Week: NASCAR’s Justin “Little Gator” Allgaier

What a cutie-patootie! Not to mention an ARCA/REMAX champ and a NNS Rookie of the Year! (thanks www.rubbingsracing.com for the awesome picture)

With Justin Allgaier earning his most recent win at Chicagoland last Saturday night, I thought it would be very fitting and appropriate to feature him as our Lipstick & Lugnuts Driver of the Week.  He’s also really cute so it gives me an excuse to post some more eye candy too.

I’m absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to feature one of the NNS drivers this week because Justin is special.  He’s one of the “regular” drivers that you don’t typically hear of week to week because the Sprint Cup drivers tend to steal the thunder in the Nationwide series these days.

So let’s take a look and see what Justin is all about and what makes him tick.  You can consider him a “young gun” since he’s only twenty-four years old, but he’s quickly making his mark as a huge contender for the NNS title where he currently sits in fourth place in the NNS points.

NNS: Time to Kick the Majors Out of the Minors

Ricky Stenhouse, Jr won his first NASCAR Nationwide race this past weekend in his 51st start at Iowa Speedway.  As reported by Morgann Spicer, Ricky beat out Sprint Cup regulars Carl Edwards and Brad Keselowski .

A first win is always one of the sweetest, but does anyone, even Ricky Stenhouse, Jr, realize that this win was so much more than that?
