If my foreclosed home was auctioned to a bank and I had ten days to leave I'd look like this too.
Welcome to the wonderful month of May, race fans. Does everybody recall how important this month is?
If you’re a fan of anything that speeds on four wheels and don’t know how important May is your dunce cap is in the mail.
Duh, it’s Indianapolis 500 month! So exciting, especially down in these parts of Indianapolis. Radio stations are already buzzing with excitement and my tickets are on my refrigerator waiting for race day.
However, we can’t neglect this week’s racing headlines even if they involve the likes of broken down, drowned out in bankruptcy probably feels like crawling into a hole and dying former drug addicted driver.
Yeah, Jeremy Mayfield is in the news yet again and hopefully for the last time.

Might be calling this place home sooner than I think...literally. Fingers crossed.
Okay. So hi again, everybody. Yeah, I’ve been away for awhile. For that, I apologize to everybody and anybody that gazes at our site from time to time or on a regular basis.
I’m trying to relocate to the Racing Capital of the World (yes, Indianapolis – squeee!!) so I’ve been driving like mad between interviews, seeing my boyfriend on the weekends and still maintaining sanity here in Northwest Indiana.
It’s been a bumpy ride, kind of like Jeremy Mayfield’s journey through the justice system that ended in utter failure a couple days ago. Ouchie.
Let’s see what’s shakin’ in racing this week and get back on the speed freak wagon, shall we?

I did not stop at the Columbus, IN Dairy Queen this weekend but I am here today to bring you NASCAR's latest.
For those of you familiar with our now-famous (we hope) website here, one would observe that Tuesdays are reserved for our news days.
Well, today is Wednesday and it’s news day because I just got back into town from Indianapolis.
I wasn’t visiting Tony Stewart although I did roll by Columbus, IN on Monday just for the official record for like the millionth time in hopes of bumping into him. Sigh. Fail yet again.
It’s a special week because NASCAR season officially opens this weekend so we’re changing the gears up just a little bit but then back to our normal programming next week.
News items of interest this week? Jeremy Mayfield’s (aka Methfield) hallucinating (literally), NASCAR defended it’s stance on concussions, and Roush-Fenway is on the pole for the Daytona 500 so let’s get started.

He's just "that guy" that won't go away, kind of like an annoying flea buzzing in your ears.
Okay, meth-heads of the world your spokesperson is back in the news this week so listen up.
Former NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield was in Richmond, VA federal court yesterday to ask for a reinstatement of his 2010 lawsuit against NASCAR over his suspension for failing a drug test in 2009 at Richimond International Raceway.
When he was suspended in 2009, Jeremy sued NASCAR and the drug test company for “defamation, unfair and deceptive trade practices, breach of contract and negligence.”
At the time of the drug test Jeremy claims he was on a combination of Claritin-D and prescription medication Adderall for attention deficit disorder which resulted in the positive drug test results.
Summary in English, please? Jeremy didn’t know the meaning of the phrase “random drug test” and happened to be on drugs at the time. He’s pissed because he didn’t know he was going to be tested and is embarrassed he was caught.
The end. Of that portion of our broadcast.

Ugh, lovely mugshot isn't it? (photo credit: Catawba County, NC Office of the Sheriff)
So we’re all in agreement that Jeremy Mayfield’s life is pretty much going from bad to worse in a hand basket, right? Well, this morning that little theory was proven as fact according to CBS News affiliate WBTV.
Let’s take a few moments and update you on the latest drama in Jeremy’s life in addition to what we reported here yesterday at Lipstick and Lugnuts, shall we?
Not only did police find methamphetamine in Jeremy’s home they also found stolen property from a local trucking company and firearms.
This little saga Jeremy has going on just keeps getting better every day, doesn’t it?

Jeremy Mayfield arrested again? You don't say. For drug possession? Wow, I'm totally NOT shocked. (photo credit: www.autoevolution.com)
Well, here’s a shocker in the racing world: Jeremy Mayfield has been arrested for possesion of methamphetamine on Tuesday night at his home. The Associated Press broke the story this morning and said that Mayfield posted his $3,000 bail and his court date is set for today.
The police were sent to his home on a tip that there were stolen goods in the house and during the search the cops found the methamphetamine. They also indicated they might have found stolen goods as well but details and verification of the items were not immediately available.
Remember, folks. Jeremy was suspended in 2009 for failing a random drug test in NASCAR. Jeremy also said the reason he failed the drug tests is because he was taking a mixture of over-the-counter allergy medication and Adderall, a drug he’d apparently been taking by prescription at the time.
Yeah, Jeremy. Keep on talking, dude. We believe you. Your “conspiracy” drama will carry on forever just like your career will be remembered by fans forever as one ruined by drug addiction.

This makes me want to see Kyle Busch sponsored by a chicken restaurant.
NASCAR drivers spend their off time doing more than vacationing, testing, and hanging out with their families. They still have jobs to do, even when they leave the track after race weekend. These drivers have appearances and commercials to film to keep their sponsors, personal and professional, happy. The movie Stroker Ace even parodied how drivers have to jump through hoops to make sure sponsors get their money’s worth. These commercials are usually a good combination of hilarious and embarrassing for the drivers. I felt it was perfect to feature some of those here at Lipstick and Lugnuts.
