NASCAR: Confused About MWR/Sadler Deal? We Are Too.

I was kidding, Mikey. I really can't drive five races for you...sorry, my bad.

Some interesting news on the Sprint Cup front this afternoon regarding Elliott Sadler and his supposed (well former supposed) deal with Michael Waltrip Racing.

Sunday it was announced via several media sources that Elliott Sadler would pilot MWR’s No. 55 for five Sprint Cup races in 2012.

After Sadler’s Phoenix Nationwide win, needless to say he received some attention from prospective Sprint Cup owners that needed rides fulfilled.

Michael Waltrip was one of them and offered Sadler five rides that included Bristol, Martinsville and New Hampshire.

Cool deal, America loves Elliott Sadler.  What’s the issue?

They Are The Champions, My Friends…

Here they are, fans. All three of your 2011 NASCAR series champions. From L-R: NCWTS champ Austin Dillon, NNS champ Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. and NSCS champ Tony Stewart.

Just in case you missed all of this weekend’s racing action, here is a quick, visual recap of who won which trophy this weekend.  Aren’t they pretty?  Yes, I knew you’d agree.

I want to take a quick moment and say “thank you” to all of our readers for tagging along with Erin and I this 2011 season as we began mid-season for all three series.  I hope everything you’ve read has been enjoyable and entertaining and you can bet your hineys that we’ll be back in 2012 with a vengeance and ready to go in February when NASCAR kicks it off again!

So I leave you and ajourn to my cave where I will weep myself to sleep for the next 97 days (and counting…) until the Daytona 500 commences.

NCWTS: 6 Points And 2 Penalties Puts A 3 Back In Championship Victory Lane

Nothing like a champagne shower for the Champion. (Yes, he is old enough at 21.)

Rain?  Check.  Kevin Harvick scrapping with someone? Check.  Potential for Austin Dillon to lose his points lead?  Check.

The only things this NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race missed were fuel mileage racing and Kyle Busch driving someone into the wall.  We would have had a season’s worth of drama in just 2.5 hours.

Johnny Sauter did everything he possible could to win this race and the championship tonight.  He led the most laps and won the race, but it was just six points shy of overtaking Austin Dillon for the points lead and the trophy.

Too bad the damage was done to Sauter’s championship hopes prior to tonight.

NCWTS: NASCAR, Park Him!

Make no mistake, this was ALL Kyle.

Kyle Busch needs to be done for the rest of this weekend, if not the rest of the season.

It’s clear that putting him on probation both in his professional life and personal life has had no effect.  Kyle still removes his brain just about every chance he gets.  This truck race was no exception.

Kyle Busch got into it with Ron Hornaday on lap 15 of the truck race.  Kyle was running outside of Hornaday who got loose with some 3-wide racing.  Hornaday slid up and both he and Busch tapped the wall a little.  Their trucks were not damaged to the point of ending their night, until Kyle couldn’t keep his temper under control.  Kyle Busch hooked Hornaday’s truck until he put him into the wall…hard.

Hornaday could have been hurt.  Badly.

Weekend Hot Pass: October 14-16, 2011

NASCAR Nationwide Series- Dollar General 300 Miles of Courage

-

Charlotte Motor Speedway- Friday, October 14th at 7:30pm ET on ESPN2

Ok, Nationwide drivers, we need to have a little talk.

I understand that it is difficult to beat Brad Keselowski, Carl Edwards, and Kyle Busch week after week.  But, there are 40 of you to three of them.  I guess to be more accurate, there are 36 of you when you take away Kasey Kahne, Paul Menard, Brian Vickers, and Joey Logano.

Take back your series!

There, I said it.

There are only four races left to the Nationwide Series season, and I’d love nothing more than to see actual NNS drivers win them all.  Elliot Sadler needs to make a move quickly if he wants to have a chance to take this championship away from Ricky Stenhouse, Jr.  Both drivers are in top notch equipment, more than capable of winning week after week.  The key to Stenhouse leading this championship is his two wins to ESad’s none.

While I’d love for a NNS driver to take this race, I feel like we will be seeing another round of the Keselowski burnout.  Charlotte is a track that plays right into Keselowski’s strengths: speed and, you guessed it, fuel mileage.

I really do hope that an NNS driver can step up and prove me wrong this weekend.  Please?

NCWTS: Fast Five 225- The Return of the Slide

When Austin Dillon took the checkers at Chicagoland Speedway for the Fast Five 150, I wondered what his victory celebration would be.  He tried the slide through the grass at Nashville Speedway, and got stopped by the paint, and nearly tumbled over.  I figured that he would still be searching for his perfect celebration.

Nope, he has been working on perfecting the slide.

Austin Dillon even said that he kicked the painted surface of the grass when he came up for driver intros and realized that it would stick.  This time, he stayed out of the paint and slid nicely on the grass.  I’m not completely on board with this celebration, but it is all his own.  He’s only 21 and has plenty of time and opportunities to perfect that celebration.

Garage Gossip: Kurt’s apology (not to Jimmie Johnson) and Danica’s worries

It's Tuesday, earthlings. Time for me to feed your brains with NASCAR and IndyCar news. Highly logical if you ask me.

Good morning, fans.  It’s Tuesday and last night was a bad night.  Really sucky baseball and a beauty pageant were my choices for television so you can imagine my disappointment.

What’s more disappointing than that, you ask?  Waking up today and seeing Kurt Busch and Danica Patrick in the headlines leaving me no choice but to report on the same crap over and over again.

I almost feel like Tony Stewart being asked the same questions over and over again, y’know?  Maybe I should throw a chair across the room or something.

On a lighter, more amusing note Helio Castroneves looked ravishing during the 2011 Miss Universe Pageant and I wish I could have had him for dessert last night.

So welcome to Tuesday and let’s take a quick gander at what headlines are gracing NASCAR and IndyCar’s radars this lovely, caffeine-infused morning.

KHI and RCR announce Nationwide Series merger (with Friday updates)

On Wednesday, KHI and RCR announced a Nationwide Series merger for the 2012 season. Good news or bad news?

Okay, let’s be honest with each other.  Who didn’t see this one coming?

I saw it coming and knew it was only a matter of time before Kevin Harvick locked arms with Richard Childress in the Nationwide Series.

On Wednesday, KHI and RCR announced they will merge together in operations for the 2012 NASCAR Nationwide Series.

What does this mean?  Let’s take a look.

NCWTS Good Sam 200: And This Round Goes To…

Ron Hornaday captures the checkers for his 49th career win in Atlanta. (photo by Geoff Burke)

It’s no secret that there has been more than a little drama between Kyle Busch and anything remotely involving Kevin Harvick this season.  Kyle vs. Kevin Harvick.  Kyle vs. KHI racing.  Kyle vs. Elliot Sadler. And so on.

In Atlanta, the trucks of Kevin Harvick Incorporated were able to best Kyle Busch without giving him a chance to cry about anything.

NCWTS VFW 200: Another Happy Ending

Happy Harvick wins 2 in a row in the NCWTS series. He drives for 3 Wednesday night at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Interesting things always manage to happen with the Camping World Truck Series hits the track, but I raised an eyebrow before they even started the engines.

The NCWTS was paired up with the Sprint Cup series again this week racing at Michigan International Speedway in the VFW 200.  After the pre-race ceremonies I had to ask the question…

Did Michigan finally secede to Canada?
