Patriots Void Hernandez’s Guarantee
A source from the NFL Players Association and from the Patriots decision making team have reported that the New England Patriots have voided all of Aaron Hernandez’s contract guarantees. Hernandez was to receive $2.5 million over the next two seasons along with workout bonuses which could add up to $1 million over the next two years.
The Patriots do not have language written in Hernandez’s contract to void the guarantees if he does not practice but they do believe that the Collective Bargaining Agreement does because he has engaged in conduct unbecoming after being arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the death of Odin Lloyd.
