The Mets unveiled the logo for the 2013 All-Star Game and I love it! The classic design has a very retro feel. It’s a great way of combining old and new. Terry Collins, David Wright, R.A. Dickey, and Johan Santana were all present to show off the design along with Dwight Gooden, John Franco, Keith Hernandez, Ron Darling, and others. Can’t wait to see what the Mets have in store for next year’s All-Star Game when it comes to Citi Field on July 16th. Check out this video of the unveiling.
“The city of New York’s been great in putting this together…It wouldn’t happen without all those people coming together, working with us and awarding this game to Citi Field. I think to showcase this ballpark next year is going to be a big thing.” -Mets COO Jeff Wilpon
“It’s great to be a part of this celebration…I can’t think of a bigger or better baseball stage. It’s great that we finally get an opportunity to showcase the beautiful complex, Citi Field, our home to the world. I can’t think of a better place or a more historical city to have an All-Star Game.“-David Wright
“By hosting the All-Star Game, New York City will be the center of the sports universe next summer.”- MLB’s executive vice president of business Timothy Brosnan
“Can’t Rally Behind Niese– The Mets were unable to score enough runs behind Niese’s effort last night. Probably their best chance at tying or leading the game came in the 5th inning when the Mets loaded the bases. With only 82 pitches in the books, Terry Collins allowed Jon Niese to go to the plate. Unfortunately, he struck out on three pitches, only swinging at one. That was the last time the Mets really posed a threat to the Marlins’ 4-2 lead.
I guess I could understand that it’s the end of the season and guys are getting tired. But the Mets need to figure out a way to get wins. They may not be making it to the playoffs (BOO!), but at least they aren’t in last place. Let’s keep it that way! I’d like to see them finish out the season with a winning record so they can have something to show for their season. Before the All-Star break, the Mets shattered all expectations (mainly because there weren’t any) so I hope they can get some wins and show that this season was not a complete failure.
THE DECISION TO PLATOON- The Mets decide to platoon in the corner outfield. That means Jason Bay will be demoted to a part-time player- giving way to some other players. I’m not surprised… Jason said he understands the difficult decision the Mets had to make. He’s a class act! I know that the slugger he used to be is somewhere inside of him, but things seem to get worse and worse for him as the seasons pass. I just wish something would give with him.
