The biggest news last week was of course Steve Nash coming to the Lakers, and with this acquisition, they only have a few others places on the roster that need some help or improvement. So, here’s the latest news and rumors about Lakers free agency:
- As I mentioned, Steve Nash coming to the Lakers was of course the biggest news coming out of last week. It was a sign-and-trade deal, which, according to ESPN, will give the Lakers a three-year, $27 million deal, and the Suns received two first round raft picks in 2013 and 2015, as well as the Lakers second rounders in 2013 and 2014.
This was an excellent deal for the Lakers because they finally have an able point guard who can help the aging Kobe Bryant get better shots. Also, they didn’t have to give up very much, in terms of salary cap space because Nash fits into the trade exception.
- The Lakers are continually engaged in talks to trade Andrew Bynum for the Orlando Magic’s Dwight Howard. This is the latest development with that situation:
The Lakers and other teams remained in talks with the Magic for Dwight Howard today, but a trade is not imminent, league sources say.

So, it doesn’t look like anything will be happening with this too soon, although Lakers fans should hope it does.
