The Monsters were looking to stop their 5 game losing streak as they entered the game against Hamilton Sunday. The team came out and looked like they were hungry to put one in the win column. David van der Gulik opened the scoring at the 5:22 mark of the first period getting one by former Monsters goaltender Cedrick Desjardins. Bill Thomas got his 4th of the year at 14:24 from Sean Sullivan. The Monsters offence carried over into the second period when Patrick Bordeleau notched his first goal of the year on a slapper from the left wing. Mark Olver would score as well in the second period at the 10:28 mark, and this would be enough of an onslaught for Hamilton coach Sylvain Lefebvre to pull Desjardins and replace him with goaltender Robert Mayer. Hamilton winger Aaron Palushaj was able to get one by Monsters goaltender Sami Aittokallio towards the end of the second period, but that would be the only scoring Hamilton was able to do last night. Sami Aittokallio stopped 42 of 43 shots for the Monsters in this winning effort. The Monsters found their power play to be silent again last night, going zero for three chances.
The Lake Erie Monsters find themselves with the next 4 days game free, but will be back at it this Friday, November 30, 2012, at 7:30 against the San Antonio Rampage.
