It’s amazing that it’s taken this long for The Hawt Trophy to go to a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning. I only cover the team at Sons of Andreychuk, for Gretzky’s sake. That drought ends today!
This week’s recipient is Tampa’s tattooed forward Ryan Malone. A veteran player who isn’t afraid to head to the rough parts of the rink, Bugsy is also an American boy who represented the USA at the 2010 Winter Games.
Enough yakking, enjoy!
Before coming to Tampa, Malone was the first Pittsburgh native to play for the Penguins. He followed in the footsteps of his father Greg who also played for the Pens. He inherited his dad’s nickname of “Bugsy Malone” after the movie of the same name.
Bugsy is well known for his numerous tattoos, a few more can be seen in this screencap:
…just, yeah. That’s really all there is to say.
And you know what’s coming… one of Malone’s teammates:
That’s defenseman Victor Hedman for your Bonus Swede if the week.
