Eric Lindros 1990 Toronto Blue Jays IJ #8, 1991 Sports Cards Blue Jays Uniform #5, 1990 Score Traded #100T Rookie Card
We all really, really, really needed to have three Eric Lindros Toronto Blue Jays hockey baseball cards to call our own. I mean, why not? The 1990-91 Score hockey card set had 6 Lindros rookie cards in it and that certainly didn’t seem excessive, did it? No, not at all if you were a fan of the Oshawa Generals.
I always believed that the “3B” on the front of his 1990 Score Traded #100T card stood for the 3 chances Lindros likely had at bat during his batting practice with the Jays and not 3rd base as is the norm on baseball cards, but I digress.
There are some hockey players and athletes who are multi-talented and there are not. I fit into none of those categories however I am here to celebrate those who do. Join me in this little bit of frivolity, won’t you?

Score thought it could contain the mullet but Upper Deck has wisdom.
Picture it: June 16, 1990. BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, British Columbia was buzzing with anticipation as the 1990 NHL Entry Draft kicked off. Who would go when? Would the top prospects indeed be drafted in order? Would there be any surprises? Utter atrocities?
Enter The Hair. But was Jaromir Jagr’s mullet really an atrocity? From a fashion standpoint in 1990, well, not so much. And his being drafted 5th overall? That really wasn’t cause for shock and awe either, just case in point as to why NHL Central Scouting needed to include European players in their rankings.
But wow, whoever was behind one of the cameras that day taking portraits of the newly drafted players clearly had a single goal in mind: To make the rookies look like rookies. They succeeded at gold star level and in the process took massive liberties with a number of things, most notably Jagr’s sassy Czech fashion sense. Just where was his hair? His glorious mullet? Now you see it, now you don’t? If they had the opportunity, they likely would have made him wear socks and sandals, too. For all we know, they did.

There’s a lot of Eric Lindros hockey cards that make you scratch your head. It’s easy to forget that he was kind of a big deal before suffering so many concussions. Whether it was that star power or just a fluke of the 1990s, we’re definitely glad for it.
Happy Wednesday!

The RBC Play Hockey Charity Challenge did more than boost the spirits of hockey fans and give 39 players a chance to get back on the ice, it raised over $100,000 for the NHLPA Goals & Dreams Fund and the RBC Play Hockey initiative.
Before the players even had a chance to walk into the dressing rooms at Ryerson’s Mattamy Athletic Centre, formerly Maple Leaf Gardens, fans had lined up to see them and no matter the age, the smiles stretched from ear to ear.

As the hockey world celebrates the 40th anniversary of the 1972 Summit Series, it’s only fitting that we start with a card from that historic event. A card that truly captures the excitement that was in the air.
Ok, this one just made me chuckle.

The immediate reaction upon seeing this Teemu Selanne card is bad high school picture. Like he went for his senior picture and they had a hockey stick & poster in addition to the tuxedo slip on.
The 90′s fabulousness doesn’t stop there.

Yes, that is Eric Lindros water skiing. Apparently Pinnacle wanted to showcase some of the off ice interests of players back in the 90s. That doesn’t mean it makes a lick of sense.
It’s Wednesday and time for hockey cards!
