AHL Announces Roster Changes For All-Star Classic

On Wednesday, the American Hockey League announced roster changes for the 2013 Dunkin’ Donuts AHL All-Star Classic, happening this coming Sunday and Monday, January 27 and 28 in Providence, Rhode Island.

With the start of the NHL season, a number of players are no longer available to participate in the event. The roster changes follow.

2013 AHL All-Star Rosters Announced


On Thursday, fans of the American Hockey League finally got word of who they’d see on the ice at the 2013 Dunkin’ Donuts AHL All-Star Classic taking place on January 27 and 28 at Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island.

Beginning today through until January 24, AHL fans can vote for their favourites to determine the starting line-ups for the 2013 AHL All-Star Game by visiting facebook.com/theahl and completing the official CCM AHL All-Star Fan Ballot.

Ottawa Senators Off Season Recap (PART 2)

Not only were the Sens brass busy resigning key elements to the core of their team, they also dipped into signing some young talent for the future of the organization.

Spending his last 3 seasons with the Minnesota Wild, the Sens came to terms with 25 year old Guillaume Latendresse. Internationally Latendresse has represented Canada on two separate occasions. At the 2006 World Juniors he struck gold, following his silver at the 2005 Under 18 Championships. In his 3 seasons with the Wild, he racked up 33 goals and 19 assists in 82 games.

Keeping with the Minnesota Wild calibre, Ottawa signed defenceman Mike Lundin to a one year contract. Lundin only played 17 games with the Wild due to a back injury that forced him to miss the first 23 games of the season. Before joing the Wild, Lundin spent 4 seasons with the Tampa Bay Lightening.

A native of Vancouver, the Senators are proud to welcome Tyler Eckford to the mix. After spending last season with the Portland Pirates of the AHL, 26 yeard old Eckford sign a two year, two way contract. Eckford has had some NHL experiencing playing in 7 games with the New Jersey Devils in the 2009-2010 season.

After spending the 2011-2012 season with the Moscow Spartak of the KHL, Andre Benoit makes another appearance with the Senators organization with a one year, two-way deal. Benoit made his NHL deubt with the Senators in the 2010-2011 season. After being sent down to the Senators AHL affiliate in Binghamton, Benoit was apart of their Calder Cup winning team.  Benoit also spent time with the Hamilton Bulldogs, Sodertalje SK of the Swedish Elite League and Tampere of the Finnish League.

Among the other notable acquisitions are, goaltender Nathan Lawson to a one year, two way contract, forward Hugh Jessiman to a one year, two way deal and forward Shane Prince to an entry level contract.
