NHL Preseason Officially Cancelled

Rageguy is not pleased about this lock out situation!

We all saw this coming and today the NHL made it official cancelling the remainder of the 2012 preseason schedule. October 11th aka the start of the regular season for the NHL is right around the corner and with zero discussion coming from either side, doesn’t look like it’ll be happening.

Now that the NFL got their referee situation figured out, the NHL is the only league that can’t seem to get their situation figured out. Much like the NFL, money is the issue when it comes down to negotiations.

And money ultimately is what is being lost by having this lock out. If the regular season is continuous cancelled game after game, it is only a matter of time before the cash crop that is the Winter Classic is done and with that goes the 24/7 HBO series. At the earliest that won’t be cancelled still November but really who is looking forward to that?

The players obviously want to play as many of them are heading overseas, and the fans want to watch. Both sides need to give a little, both sides need to talk, and at the end of the day both sides need to give us hockey back!
