Looking for some professional hockey in Toronto? Look no further than your Toronto Marlies! Let’s be honest, the NHL isn’t coming back any time soon and Torontonians need their hockey.
The Toronto Marlies are coming off an incredible season which saw them advancing to the Calder Cup finals only to fall to the Norfolk Admirals 4 straight in June. Yes, you read that right, in June, for the first time EVER there was professional hockey in Toronto in June. I had the honor of attending every home game of the playoffs and I have never witnessed a crazier atmosphere in an arena that of the Ricoh Coliseum. You won’t see that kind of atmosphere at a Leafs game, especially in the 100 level with the amount of business men and women who treat Leafs games as business opportunities to entertain their costumers. That would never happen at a Marlies game.
I have to say it, the Toronto Marlies are much better than the Leafs and you will see better quality of hockey in the AHL. These players leave everything on the ice, they have to or they will never live their dreams of playing in the NHL. Do you like the fighting, I sure do, if you go to a Marlies game against Hamilton you will see at least 1 fight. I have been to a lot of hockey games over the past few years and I have never seen games more exciting than those of the Toronto Marlies.
Sick of paying a ridiculous amount of money to see the Leafs lose? Now wait a minute, I’m not bashing the Leafs, I am a faithful beleafer as well, I am just telling the truth. Platinum seats are at least $400 and for the cheap seats behind a pole or at the very back of the ACC seats are at least $50. The Marlies most expensive ticket isn’t even that much. The prices range from $10 to $45 before game day or $14 to $49 on game day. The seats are actually affordable unlike the Leafs.
Are you worried about going to see random players that you haven’t heard of? Now that’s not the case, the majority of the players have been sent down by the Leafs. Carter Ashton, Joe Colborne, Jake Gardiner, Nazem Kadri, are just a few that have spent time with the Marlies. Mike Zigomanis has even won the Stanley Cup with the Pittsburgh Penguins. These players are up and coming hockey players and some will have great careers in the NHL, so why not follow them now.
Torontonians will be missing their NHL Blue and White, so come see the AHL Blue and White. There’s a great atmosphere, the quality of hockey is better, the tickets are cheap, and they ACTUALLY WIN ! So I hope to see you at the Ricoh Coliseum.
