Zach Hamill will sit this game out and Jordan Caron will fill his spot, Caron has 2 goals and 2 assissts in 17 games played this season, we’ll see if he is the spark the Bruins need to get out of this slump.
Boston Starters: Bergeron-Seguin-Marchand-Ference-McQuaid
Bruins first line creating some nice traffic down in front and are winning a lot of battles.
Key thing to watch is the how the Bruins are going to crash the net, their offense needs to take more chances instead of relying on the defensemen to take all the shots.
Vokoun with a nice stop on Ference with Bergeron setting the screen in front.
Krejci-Pouliot-Caron creating a few nice opportunities, Pouliot driving to the net as Seidenberg rips one, save Vokoun.
Bruins leading shots 6-1 at half way, score still tied at one.
11:45 Peverley back hand passes under Dennis Wideman to Lucic who nets his 19th of the year. 1-0 Boston
Thomas comes up with a huge save on Johansson and Ovechkin rebound shot.
Bruins offense is there, just need to get the defense on the same page, they’re having a hard time clearing the zone. They worked on it in practice the other day, but they have to work a bit harder if they want to get this streak going in the other direction.
Dennis Wideman throws a shot at Thomas, save with just under three left in the first period. Shots 10-8 Boston
Alexander Semin flying up the ice, brings it into the zone and Thomas stones him cold on the breakaway. What a stop by Tim Thomas!
18:48 The little ball of hate (Brad Marchand) puts the Bruins up 2-0 off of a winning battle by Bergeron who fed to him in front of the net.
At the end of twenty Bruins lead in shots and in goals. Solid first period effort by the Bruins as they won puck battles and made their net presence known. Lets hope they can keep up the good work going into the second with just over a minute left on the power play.
“I love the pain, I love the sacrifice, but most of all I love winning” -Zdeno Chara in the Intermission Report on NBCSN.
B’s go on the attack after the opening face-off and the second period is underway with Seidenberg taking a shot in the opening seconds.

Long pass ahead and Keith Aucoin shoots and it goes into the boards.
“The way we’ve been playing lately a little shake up isn’t a bad thing.” -Claude Julien on the current line changes.
Brooks Laich, arguably one of the best Caps players this season, goes in behind the net and gets hit hard from Dennis Seidenberg into the boards, clean hit but has trouble putting weight on the lower half of his body.
Laich came out for a skate around the ice during commercial break then went right back to the bench and down the tunnel, telling the trainer “not good.”
Chara with a one-timer from about thirty feet and no one in front, Vokoun with the save and dives to hold onto it as Bergeron crashes in for a rebound opportunity.
Bergeron goes to the box for interference at 18:20 Caps go on their first power play.
Former Bruin, Dennis Wideman with a shot from the blue line, save by Thomas.
Capitals will start the third period with .20 left on the man advantage. Great efforts by Wideman, but Thomas standing his ground in net. He’s a brick wall today. Good, solid forty minute effort by both teams as the score remains 2-0. Defense has done a solid job keeping Washington out of the zone and have confined them to the outside. Coming into the third they’re going to need to keep the pressure on in order to stay on top.
This will be their first third period lead since January 12 against the Montreal Canadiens.(@ HackswithHaggs)
Shot rang off the post by Mathieu Perreault, close call for the Caps.
Two-on-one: Peverley bringing it in with Kelly and save by Vokoun.
Wideman shoves Kelly into the boards after play is stopped, seems to be the only Capital willing to play today. Things are getting a tad nasty from the former Bruin.
6:38 Marchand gets the puck, moves it around Johansson and Tyler Seguin tips it in with a little re-direct, 3-0 Boston
FACT: Seguin and Ovechkin are now tied at 20 goals a piece.
Orlov takes a puck to the face off of a shot by Shawn Thornton, bleeding profusely from the face, caught him underneath the shield. He steams down the tunnel throwing his helmet and kicking the wall, Capitals are getting frustrated, tough break.
FACT: Second puck to the face for Orlov, took one last night against the Montreal Canadiens.
Frustration building between team mates Alex Semin and Alex Ovechkin off of a mis-communication, not the way you want your teammates/Captain to be.
Johansson drew the puck to the net and Seidenberg was in front, gets the tip and the Capitals are now on the board.3-1
13:30 Chimera knocks Thomas‘s stick away from him and he goes to the box for Goalie Interference. Power play is put to work again for the third time this game.
Centering pass in front, Seguin a shot and it’s just wide. Quick passes, shot by Seidenberg and the puck is held by Vokoun. Nice rush there for power play unit.
Bergeron with a blocked shot, nice play by the Bruins center-man.
Just under three minutes left to play and the Bruins holding on to a two-goal lead, still applying the pressure. Nice change of scenery for Bruins fans.
1:19 Washington pulls Vokoun and we have an empty net scenario for Boston.
Rich Peverley takes the puck into the zone with speed and gets the empty net goal. 4-1 Boston .41 remaining in regulation.
