The Nashville Predators have certainly put their best foot forward in this round of home games! Tonight’s game against the Edmonton Oilers was no exception. Hard play at the net and good defense by all of Nashville’s players brought home that 3-2 win.

The first period brought a goal by Potter for the Oilers at the eight minute mark, just eleven seconds into an Oiler power play. Talk about a kick in the pants to get those defensive juices flowing. » Continue reading “Predators Continue Home Streak, Beat Oilers 3-2″

Sergei Kostitsyn Signs With KHL

Another Predator bites the ice and heads to Europe as confirmation came Monday that forward Sergei Kostitsyn will join the KHL for the remained of the NHL lockout.

The Belarus native will head to West Siberia to join the Avangard Omsk as the only current NHL player on the team.

While fingers are crossed that the lockout does not last so long, if the entire NHL season is a bust, Kostitsyn may still see playoff action of the Russian sort. The past four seasons Avangard Omsk has made a run in the KHL conference playoffs, not to mention a championship season in 2004.

Better pack your winter clothes for Siberia, Kostitsyn!

While word on Weber is still in waiting, another of Nashville’s front men has settled on a new contract.

Forward Sergei Kostitsyn has agreed to a two year contract averaging $3 million per year, according to TSN. Twenty-five year old Kostitsyn has played in Nashville since being traded from Montreal two years ago. Brother Andrei has not and will not be signed to the Predators for next season.

This signing means that the Predators will avoid any of their players going to arbitration hearings this year. Welcome back to Nashville, Sergei!

Predators News Smash-Up

Take a deep breath and SIGN THAT CONTRACT. (Photo: Bridget Samuels/flickr)

In a fast moving world, we expect action every day. What did the Preds provide us with this past weekend?

Certainly not any blow-by-blow action, that’s for sure.

What has been in the Nashville news lately is the suspicious fact that Sergei Kostitsyn has filed for salary arbitration.

Well no sir. I do not think so. Let’s keep one of our first line forwards.

The hearing is set to happen between July 20th and August 4th, and we will be waiting on baited breath to see what kind of contract will be signed. And it WILL be signed.

Rad-ical Russia, Suter-In-Waiting, And The Nitty-Gritty On Today’s Signings

Henderson, previously in the Sharks organization, will remain in Milwaukee next season. (Photo: Dinur Blum/flickr)

Whatever else free agency time may teach us, we all learn the great game of “Hurry Up and Wait” each time it comes around.

Case and point: multiple signings yesterday and today, but no word yet on the big name.

Of those who were announced today to have signed, we have returning forward Brian McGrattan up first. McGrattan has signed a one year contract with the Predators for $600,000. He played thirty games with the Preds after being claimed on waivers from Anaheim last October. » Continue reading “Rad-ical Russia, Suter-In-Waiting, And The Nitty-Gritty On Today’s Signings”
