Mike Fisher’s Community Work Wins The Foundation Award
Being the philanthropist pays off sometimes.
In this case, being involved in the community brought home an award for Mike Fisher tonight at the 2012 NHL Awards Show.
The NHL Foundation Award goes to the player who takes the core values of hockey and applies them to enriching the lives of those in the community. Mr. Fisher has done so through his work with the Children’s Hospital, Urban Ministries, and the Room in the Inn.
The NHL will also donate $25,000 to the Room in theInnas a part of the award.
While this was the only award to come home to Nashville, the Predators made a strong showing in Las Vegas for the awards show.
Captain Shea Weber made the list once again for the Norris Trophy, ultimately won by Erik Karlsson of the Senators. Pekka Rinne was up for the Vezina Trophy, which went home with Henrik Lundqvist and the Rangers. And then there was the biggest showdown of them all.
The EA Sports cover vote.
Unfortunately, there will be a lack of yellow and blue on the cover this year as the Flyers’ Claude Giroux won the vote. In the end, it was a quiet night for the Predators, but an entertaining one as well.
Well, it was entertaining for Nickleback fans. And for anyone who actually listened to the acceptance speeches. But I digress.
Adios, Las Vegas!
