The Scandinavian Dynamic Due has been separated.

Yes, our young Swedish goalie Anders Lindback has been traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The news broke earlier today as the summer trade season in Nashville kicked into high gear. Case and point: this trade consisted of not only Lindback leaving for warmer shores but also Preds forward Kyle Wilson and a seventh-round pick in the draft.

What did the Predators gain from this trade? Net-minder Sebastian Caron, two second-round picks in this year’s draft, and 2013 third-round pick.

Now before we get all up in arms over such a promising player being traded – and I count myself as one who will miss this kid – we need to consider that by joining Tampa Bay, our little backup goalie could soon be a starter.

This hope was voiced by the Lightning’s GM Steve Yzerman in the press release this afternoon:

We believe Anders will join the team and give us a nice lift at the goaltending position as we prepare for the 2012-13 season. He has the potential to develop into the No. 1 goaltender we covet.

Lindback played in thirty-eight games for the Preds, coming away with a 16-13-2 record and a .914 save percentage.
