Our intrepid Denver Post reporters didn’t post anything about the Avalanche practice today, and practice is an hour away from my home, so I can’t exactly drop in. Fortunately, I follow @Brgbrigadekevin on twitter. In case you don’t follow him, or you missed his tweets from practice today, I’ll give you the rundown.
-Gabriel Landeskog was out before the boys today, practicing some sauce passes and some stickhandling without equipment or skate. Even though he didn’t do much, it’s nice to know that he was feeling well enough to check in with the training staff and say hello to the boys.
-Sgarbossa and Olver dropped the gloves. Evidently Sgarbossa looked really angry. The boys had to pull them off each other, while the coaching staff didn’t really do anything.
-Aaron Palushaj looked pretty good, and he had some nice moves when he was working on a one on one against David Jones.
-Wilson was not there.
-Shane O’Brien apparently spent a lot of time talking with each of the different coaches. I noticed he spent a lot of time talking with Tim Army during the one day of training camp, so I don’t know if it’s a habit being formed this season, or if he’s always spent a lot of time talking with the coaching staff.
It doesn’t sound like Sacco is having the boys work through bagskates or go through super strenuous practices. I just hope that the team actually comes out motivated and puts forth a winning effort Monday night. Otherwise, I think it’ll be time to change strategies when it comes to the practices between the Coyotes game and the game in Minnesota.
