Gabriel Landeskog!
Landeskog is the fourth member in Nordiques/Avalanche history to win the Calder (Peter Stastny, Peter Forsberg, and Chris Drury are the other three.)
Other Avalanche players have been finalists for the Calder Memorial Trophy- Milan Hejduk, Paul Stastny, and Matt Duchene- though all three failed to capture the ultimate prize.
Gabriel Landeskog was the best rookie this season, and now you have more than my biased opinion to go on. He was the most well-rounded rookie this season, leading his entire class in hits, takeaways, plus/minus, goals, and points (tied).
Last year, his former teammate Jeff Skinner won the trophy, making him the second player in two years to leave the Kitchener Rangers and lead all rookies in the NHL.
He chose to dedicate the award to his Grandfather, who passed away in February.
**Matt Duchene’s bid for Goal of the Year was denied-he came in second to Evgeni Malkin.
