Monsters Start The Year And The Second Half Of The Season Off Right
January turned out to be a very good month for the Lake Erie Monsters. Dropping only three games out of eleven played during the month. Winning on the road was also the norm for the team in January, winning five of six during their middle of the month run. All this hard work has found the Monsters atop the North division and third in the Western conference.
The team also had two of its members, Mike Sgarbossa and Andrew Agozzino, selected to the 2013 All Star game in Providence, RI., and for the first time in team history had a player selected to be a starter (Agozzino).
Also with the end of the NHL lockout , the Monsters found their roster in a state of flux. Having Tyson Barrie, Patrick Bordeleau, Mark Olver, Brad Malone and now Mike Sgarbossa all getting time with the big club in Colorado, the Monsters had to find ways to keep their momentum going. Between call ups from the Denver Cutthroats to signing players to professional tryout contracts (PTO) the Monsters are still finding themselves a competitive team night in and out.
The Monsters get right back to business tonight at 7:30 against the Abbotsford Heat in Cleveland.
