Unfortunately, he would not record another out as Matt Carpenter singled to move Kelly to second, and Rafael Furcal singled to left fielder Tony Gwynn Jr., scoring Kelly. Gwynn had a definite chance to throw Kelly out at the plate, but he overran the ball in his hurry.
