Heath Bell vs. Ozzie Guillen

I think it’s a pretty known fact that Heath Bell and Ozzie Guillen do not see eye to eye after the comments the former closer said about his manager. Heath was quoted as saying that “it is hard to respect a guy that doesn’t tell you the truth or doesn’t tell you face to face”. Heath went on to say that the team needs a manager who is a good leader, who is well respected, and “everyone looks up to”.

He said all this on WQAM to Dan Sileo on his weekly radio show.

Apparently, Heath and his teammates do not share the same sentiments towards Ozzie.

Honestly, Heath needs to realize that Ozzie gave him so many chances to continue being our closer. I agree with the players that if we would’ve had a much better season, this subject wouldn’t have even been brought up. I think they were trying to say the following: Heath, if you wouldn’t have sucked at closing out games, you wouldn’t have this problem with Ozzie in the first place.

The Franchise: All In The Family

This week’s The Franchise was more about a look into Ozzie Guillen and his family. Sure, there was a bit of drama when they showed Heath Bell having another meltdown in the clubhouse after he messed up again. They also touched upon the Hanley Ramirez rumors that were circling before he was sent packing to Los Angeles. More on that later in this post.

The Franchise: No Lo Viste, Marlins!

This week’s episode of The Franchise was pretty sad, yet happy in a few ways. This Marlins team has quite a few characters as we know it, starting with manager, Ozzie Guillen and outfielder, Logan Morrison.

The episode opened with top Marlins front office members, including owner Jeffrey Loria and general manager, Larry Beinfest, in a round table meeting discussing the progress of the team so far, as well as the future. It is really interesting to see what these guys have to say about the current state of the team. However, that is not what stood out to me this episode.

Oh, No! Marlins Suck Again!

The Marlins suffered a heartbreaking loss Tuesday at Milwaukee. They were down 9-2 and caught up to tie the game 11-11. In the 10th inning, Jose Reyes homered, making the score 12-11.

Then comes Heath Bell to close the game for the Fish. He strikes out Ryan Braun to face Aramis Ramirez, who homers and wins the game for the Brewers 13-12. Epic fail.

Ozzie Guillen gave the media a huge rant in the clubhouse. It went something like not putting all the blame on Bell, because of the other 10 runs scored. While I sort of agree with him, I do think however, you still have to close out the game. Enough said.

Fish Sticks: Marlins Victorious, Home Run Derby News

Giancarlo Stanton has a hat.

Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner

The Miami Marlins finally win again in this dreadful month of June. The Fish beat the St. Louis Cardinals 5-3. John Buck actually hit another homer, followed by Logan Morrison who homered as well.

Heath Bell saved the game, thankfully. He allowed a couple of hits, but the point is he sealed the win for us. He may have earned his Blue Bell ice cream tonight.

The Home Run Derby!

Giancarlo Stanton is going to light up your TV screens during the Home Run Derby. He has confirmed that he is indeed participating.

Stanton will become the fifth Marlin to be in the home run derby. Get ready, because it is going to be crazy! Stanton has 17 home runs this season, so far.

Marlins: Another Reason Why I Love Heath Bell

Heath Bell may be angering some fans with his pitching performance so far. Good thing though, he is improving and continues to make me smile.

He tweeted these pictures out earlier today and provided the LOLs on Twitterverse.

Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day With The Fish

Now that I have fully recovered from a long, fun filled day yesterday, I can get to posting this. We headed over to Jupiter, FL to check out the Marlins at Spring Training. I always love going to spring training just to get autographs and check out some baseball before the season officially kicks off. As usual, I took some pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Jose Reyes and Hanley Ramirez seem to be getting along very well. They walked on and off the field together.

Are Marlins The New Evil Empire?

I thought this picture was hilarious when I saw it on Facebook. With Ozzie Guillen as our new skipper and signing Heath Bell, Jose Reyes, and Mark Buehrle; are we the new evil empire? We went after Albert Pujols and CJ Wilson (epic fail attempts, but totally glad we did not get Pujols, honestly).

We are not done, either. There is talk about the Fish going after Gio Gonzalez from the Oakland A’s and Cuban newcomer, Yoenis Cespedes. (I really really want both. We need a great pitcher like Gonzalez. Cespedes is an overall beast!)

Although the recent signings get me pretty excited, I am pretty concerned on the organization spending so much money on players. I mean, offering Pujols 10 years for $200+ million? Are you kidding me? What were they thinking? Let’s hope we don’t over spend on someone for them to turn out to be a dud.

Marlins Sign Heath Bell

The Marlins have reportedly signed pitcher Heath Bell. The deal is for 3 years and $27 million. A physical is pending. More details later.

Update:

Looks like Leo NuñezJuan Carlos Oviedo, or whatever his name is, may not be coming back to the Fish after all. He is currently in the Dominican Republic sorting out his immigration issues. Doesn’t look like the Fish are going to be calling him any time soon.
