Welcome To Miami, Jose Reyes?

According to Dino Costa from SiriusXM, Jose Reyes is now a Miami Marlin. He is expected to play shortstop, which means Hanley Ramirez will move to third base.

No official word yet, however. I will update you when it does come in.

The Marlins are also talking to Albert Pujols and Mark Buerhle about becoming Marlins.

Details coming soon…

Update: Looks like the deal has not been made, but it looks like the deal is very close to being done. Reyes is expected to sign, according to these tweets from Jorge Sedano (790 AM) and Joe Capozzi (Palm Beach Post).

Hello There, Miami Marlins

Now it is official. The Miami Marlins are here. The unveiling took place at the new ballpark. It began with the official release of the new logo, which is the same as the one leaked before. The uniforms were also officially released. Some of our players came out wearing them.

Hanley Ramirez models the new uniform.

Team owner, Jeffrey Loria, unveiled the new logo after he literally threw a Florida Marlins hat away. I get that we are moving on, but I found that to be totally rude. Never mind all the history behind that logo. Funny thing was that my husband actually said the following before it all happened, “He better not throw an old Marlins hat.”

As If We Really Needed More Drama… Carlos Zambrano To The Marlins?

Reports are saying that Marlins manager, Ozzie Guillen, has reached out to Chicago Cubs’ pitcher and fellow Venezuelan, Carlos Zambrano. Looks like it’s a possibility he may come to the Fish. The Cubs are willing to pay off the money owned to him for 2012, which is only $18 Million in deferred amounts. (Ha! Only?)

The Florida Marlins: The End of an Era

The night was bittersweet. It was the end of an era. It was the final Florida Marlins game at Sun Life Stadium. The night was a celebration of the last 19 years of this black and teal baseball team. Even though the Marlins lost, it didn’t ruin the night for us.

Marlins’ Woes Continue

Even after a Marlins reporter got pooped on by a bird while on his way to PETCO Park yesterday (it’s supposed to be a sign of  good luck), the Marlins still can’t get lucky and win a game. The Fish lost to the San Diego Padres 3-1 last night. This makes the record 57-67 for the Fish. They are now 10 games under .500.

Fan Fest 2011

One of my favorite Marlins events is Fan Fest. I love everything about it, from the games to having the opportunity to meet the players. It is when it really hits me that baseball season is at hand.

This year, Fan Fest took place for the last time at Sun Life Stadium on February 18. So, I wanted to arrive early and hopefully get in line for some autographs.

Here is a view of Fan Fest from the stadium seats.

Fans had the opportunity to take photos with players in the photo tent.

This Fan Fest was a great one. You would never know who you could run into. I ran into Marlins President, David Samson. I also got to speak with World Series 2003 Champion Manager Jack McKeon. It was very random but also amazing because Mr. McKeon is a great man and wonderful to talk to.

I am looking forward to next year’s Fan Fest at the new stadium!
