Last week on The Franchise, we saw Jose Reyes back in New York with the Marlins to play against his former team, the Mets. They had a day off, so Jose went to get a new tattoo. This was when he still had his hit streak.
The tattoo artist tells Jose that he is giving him a “good luck tattoo”. Uh… thanks guy, but you kinda jinxed the poor dude. Sure, Jose extended his streak the day after. However, that was the last hit of that streak. Bummer. Jose ended up with a 26 game hit streak.
By the way, has anyone noticed how Jose laughs just like Desi Arnaz? Just watch the video in the link above and check out this video below. (I apologize for the lame video, but it is surprisingly pretty tough to find a good video of Desi lauging on YouTube). Just go to 00:10 and listen to the lame-o Ricky Ricardo impersonation.
Now to make up for the crappy video, watch Desi being Desi, because he was awesome.
No Pressure, Giancarlo
Giancarlo Stanton made his return from the disabled list in New York. Jose was messing with him, saying he was going to hit a couple of homers. “No pressure,” Reyes kept telling Giancarlo. Then, BOOM! Giancarlo hits two home runs. It was that easy for the guy. Amazing.
John Buck’s New Friend
In Washington D.C., John Buck made a new friend of his cab driver. Driving around the nation’s capitol, Buck was telling his driver about how he plays baseball, along with details of his position, catcher. The driver knew nothing about baseball. In fact, he was a soccer fan. To show him what baseball is like, John invited the cab driver to the last game of the Nationals series.
It was pretty sweet of John to hook his driver up with a ticket to the game. Pfft… I wish I could be invited to a game. Too bad his driver didn’t get to see John do much though. Womp womp.
He Whom Shall Not Be Named
Honestly, I am tired of seeing stuff about the former Marlin who is now a Dodger. Basically, He Whom Shall Not Be Named came back to Miami with the Dodgers. He got booed. Funny part of that was Jose telling Emilio Bonifacio, “The same thing happened to me in New York. Ha Ha!”
Moving on.
Tune in tomorrow night for the final episode of this season’s The Franchise. I have a sad. I actually enjoyed the series.
