A Memorable Marlins Memorial Day For LoMo

Logan Morrison sits with his late father, Tom.

Today is Memorial Day. Some people seem to forget what this day is all about. It’s not about the fact that summer is pretty much here or the steaks that you are grilling. It is about the soldiers who made the sacrifice to protect our freedom and those who continue to protect it.

Logan Morrison’s late father (he passed away in 2010 of Lung Cancer) was in the Coast Guard. After every home run he hits, LoMo sends a military salute towards the sky as a tribute to his dad. It is very fitting that LoMo, who is starting to come out of a slump, would hit a home run for his dad on a day like today.

Not only did he hit the homer and as usual, paid tribute to his father, but something else meaningful happened.

At 3:00 PM, the nation held a moment a silence. Any baseball games taking place would stop to observe that moment of silence. As the clock struck 3, LoMo crossed home plate scoring another Marlins run.

LoMo talked about noticing some little signs here and there that his father is still with him. I agree with him that what happened today is just another one (or two) of those signs.
