Fire blow three points in dying minutes

It sort of felt like I was about to take a huge bite of a Hersey’s Chocolate Cream pie and at the last second someone smacked that very so delicious bite right out of my salivating mouth. Chicago’s Twitter land exploded with expletives in the last few seconds of the 90th minute and the Chicago Fire threw away three points by allowing the Houston Dynamo to hang around for the entire match at Toyota Park Sunday afternoon.

With only seconds left, Dynamo’s Adam Moffat earned a very difficult point for Houston, receiving a fancy back-heel from Corey Ashe and then blasting a rocket off into the back of the net for the equalizer. 1-1.

Magic Mike Magee continued to add to his epic campaign run for MVP by adding the only goal for the Fire. But it is time for the rest of the Chicago Fire team to pitch in and help this club get over that hump and into the playoffs. The loss kept the Big Red in seventh place. The win would of had them in a tie for the sixth spot. A playoff spot!

Chicago Fire forward Chris Rolfe said after the game, “I thought we played well and everybody worked hard. To give up a goal in the 90th minute is always tough to swallow.” Well, he got that right. I wasn’t even able to taste my pie let alone swallow it!

Chicago head to Seattle next Saturday to face the Sounders and try to gain on the Dynamo, who are two points ahead of them.
