Hurricanes Shut Out Blues, 2-0

"So how about your FILTHY goal, Jeff Skinner?"

Let’s be honest, I’m probably the only person outside NC who watched this Hurricanes game instead of Crosby’s comeback. I’m loyal and brave!! Anyway, to the recap.

Here’s the thing about the Hurricanes: a lot of times this season, the best thing that can be said about them is that they were outplayed. It was the case with the Rangers game for sure. Fortunately, it’s not the case with tonight’s Blues game.

+ The Hurricanes were tight all night. Just, ridiculously tight. They were forcing turnovers in the neutral zone, playing a physical game, and not giving up too many scoring opportunities.

- Having said that, Cam Ward did have to be sharp a few times. Inevitable, you might say, but make no mistake, the Hurricanes got lucky as all get-out tonight.

+ JEFF SKINNER! That goal was FILTHY, sweet God in heaven. I’m going to rewatch highlights of that goal all night. I loved it.

- Is Eric Staal still sick? I’m going to assume Eric Staal’s still sick.

- Jamie McBain had some stupid giveaways.

+ NEUTRAL ZONE PLAY excuse me while I flop down and die

+ CAM WARD’S 200TH WIN!

This is a short recap because I’m not sure how to say “a solidly played game” in so many ways, but yes: a solidly played game. More to come tomorrow.
