EPL Roundup; What an unpredictable weekend!

We should start a petition to change EPL to UEPL, aka the Unpredictable English Premier League. The league is continuing on the path of being one of the most unpredictable when it comes to matches. Case in point; yesterday Newcastle United beat Chelsea 2-0 (ending Chelsea’s nine game unbeaten streak) but just last week they lost to Sunderland 2-1. Chelsea was ranked third and Sunderland was ranked last… Speaking of Sunderland, for their game yesterday they had to play with nine men after two players received red cards. Then, Manchester City beat Norwich 7-0 and Stoke City’s goalkeeper scored a goal! So yeah, I’d say the league is getting crazier and crazier.

Liverpool (0) v Arsenal (2)
Goals- Santi Cazorla (19’) Aaron Ramsey (59’)
Things started off early for Arsenal as they got on the board in the 19th minute by a brilliant goal form Cazorla. It was a give and go with the goal post; his header hit the post and popped back out to his foot. Liverpool scored a goal in the 30th minute but it was called back and the referee booked an Arsenal defender. It was disappointing for Liverpool and Arsenal took advantage and Ramsey put the game out of reach as he scored a goal in the 59th minute. With the win Arsenal move five points ahead of second place Liverpool.

Newcastle (2) v Chelsea (0)
Goals-Yoan Gouffran (68’) Loic Remy (89’)
The most surprising match of the weekend happens to be this one. Newcastle was coming off a loss to last place Swansea but this past weekend they turned around their luck to beat second place Chelsea. Chelsea did everything right except score goals. They had every chance possibly, like hitting the crossbar twice in the opening 10 minutes, but things just couldn’t connect for their strikers. Things went downhill for Chelsea in the second half as Newcastle found their footing and scored the first goal of the match. Newcastle began piling their numbers forward an in the final minute of play they scored the final goal, and secured a vital three points.

Here’s the results and standings after week 10!
