It was another exciting weekend in the EPL, but then again, when is it not? One thing this weekend brought up is that it must hurt to be an Arsenal fan. They suffered their first loss in a three weeks, and it puts them only two points ahead of Liverpool and Chelsea, who both won this weekend. Manchester United also pulled off a big win, as well as Everton. Buckle down for two recaps and the rest of the weekend’s results!
Manchester City (6) v (3) Arsenal
Goals- MCY: Aguero (13’) Negredo (38’) Fernandinho (49’ 87’) Silva (65’) Toure (90’ PK) ARS: Walcott (30’ 62’) Mertesacker (90’)
Nobody saw this score line happening, it was one of the most surprising games in a weekend full of goals. Manchester City started things off early in the 13th minute with a well-placed goal from Aguero, it then opened up the flood gates for Manchester. Fernandinho was in top form as he struck twice in the second half, Toure and Silva also netted goals in the second half and helped Manchester City earn three points. With the win Manchester put themselves firmly in the race for the title spot.
Liverpool (5) v (0) Tottenham
Goals- Suarez (17’ 83’) Henderson (39’) Flanagan (74’) Sterling (88’)
Liverpool are back in fine form after knocking out Tottenham 5 goals to nil. Luis Suarez was in fine form as he netted two goals, adding to his total of 16 goals in 11 games. It was a tough game for Tottenham, especially on their home turf, they were booed off the field by the remaining fans. Tottenham’s defense was vulnerable from the very beginning; two players received yellow in the first half, and Paulinho received a red card in the 63rd minute for a studs up challenge. It was Liverpool’s game, and they took advantage of every play. With the win Liverpool advanced on top team Arsenal, who are only ahead by two points.
