EPL roundup; Cardiff City upset Man City and more!

This past weekend’s EPL matches were not as exciting as opening weekend. Many teams came away with a scoreless draw, and some blew their opponents away. There was a huge upset between Cardiff and Manchester City, it was a highlight in a weekend lacking of goals.

Cardiff City (3) vs. Manchester City (2)
Goals- Cardiff: Gunnarsson (60’), Fraizer Campbell (79’ 87’); Man City: Dzeko (52’) Alvaro Negredo (92’)
This game was crazy. Cardiff City won their first Premier League home game and many people are already calling it the “upset of the season.” Man City had plenty of opportunities to score in the first half but they just couldn’t finish their shots. The second half made up for the lack of goals in the first half, five goals were scored. Yes, FIVE! Man City found the back of the net first but 8 minutes later Cardiff struck back and never let up. Man City managed to get a goal in the 92nd minute but by that time it was too little too late. Cardiff City came away with a huge win. It’s a dream start for Cardiff at home and to beat Man City just put the cherry on top for this team.

Fulham (1) vs. Arsenal (3)
Goals- Fulham: Darren Bent (77’); Arsenal: Olivier Giroud (14’), Lukas Podolski (41’, 68’)
After last week’s loss Arsenal was looking to get back into the swing of things, and they did just that. Arsenal scored three goals before Fulham was able to net one. Podolski was on fire for Arsenal as he netted two goals in 30 minutes; it was an improvement from last week’s game and put Arsenal back on the right track for the rest of the season.

Manchester United (0) vs. Chelsea (0)
Just by looking at the score you would think this game was a boring one, but let’s agree to disagree. Both teams were working hard and going at each other with all they had, it was a even match all the way to the end. There were two moments where PK’s should have been called, but alas they weren’t. It’s just another mystery of what’s considered a handball and what is not. Both teams had plenty of chances on goal, Rooney had a chance in the second half that the goalie had to struggle to get to. Even though the game ended scoreless both teams played the full 90+ minutes and never backed down. In the last minute of stoppage time Man United had a huge chance but couldn’t finish it off. It was just another 0-0 result from a weekend lacking goals.

Here are the results from the rest of the weekend!
