Duke’s Parker named ACC ROW again

Despite fouling out in regulation of Saturday night’s classic overtime loss to new number one Syracuse, Duke freshman Jabari Parker was named the ACC Rookie of the Week. It is the second straight week he received this honor and sixth time of the season.

Parker had to share this honor with Syracuse freshman Tyler Ennis, who also had a great game on Saturday.

acc-logo3Parker broke the Duke freshman record with his 12th 20 point game of the season. In the two games last week, he averaged 18 points and ten rebounds. In the Blue Devils road win at Pitt last Monday night, he scored 21 points and hauled in 11 rebounds. It was his team-high seventh double-double of the season.

In the overtime loss at the sold out Carrier Dome, Parker scored 15 points and hauled in nine rebounds. Five of those rebounds came on the offensive end.

Parker is currently second in the ACC in both scoring (18.6) and rebounding (8.2). If he continues his stellar play, he will become the first Duke freshman to lead the team in both scoring and rebounding.

The Blue Devils are back on the court tonight against in-state rival Wake Forest. The game will be televised at 9pm ET on ESPNU.

Syracuse’s CJ Fair was named the ACC Player of the Week.
