As you probably already know, the Duke football team won on Saturday. I am sorry I’m getting this out late, but I’m on a mini-vacation.
On week after allowing 58 points to ACC foe Pittsburgh, the Blue Devils allowed 31 points to non-conference opponent Troy in their 38-31 victory. Duke gave up 512 total yards, with 362 of them coming through the air.
At some point, the Duke defense has to step up, right? If not, it is going to be a LONG season.
Troy scored in every quarter (as did Duke). Troy jumped on the scoreboard first in the first quarter with a five yard touchdown run. Duke tied the game on a Brandon Connette seven yard TD pass and took the lead with 25 seconds left in the first quarter on a Connette TD run.
The Blue Devils took the 21-7 lead on a Connette 60 yard pass to Jamison Crowder. Connette went 20-of-28 with three TDs. He also rushed for 71 yards and two TDs. Crowder finished with seven catches for 149 yards.
Jela Duncan rushed for 112 yards on 11 carries.
Corey Robinson went 35-of-45 for 354 yards and two touchdowns in the loss for Troy.
Duke will enjoy this weekend off before hosting Navy on October 12th.
