On Tuesday, the Duke men’s soccer team played to a 0-0 draw with number 23 Virginia. It was the Blue Devils second consecutive draw and fourth shutout of the season.
Duke is now 4-4-4 on the season and 0-3-3 in the ACC.
In the first half, there was a lot of play in the midfield. Duke took the game’s first shot, a header by Brody Huitema. UVA would have three shots in the first half, none of which tested Long. That would change in the second half as they had 11 shots on goal.
In the first overtime, the Cavaliers took five straight shots with just over two minutes to go. Long just kept making saves.
Huitema gave the Blue Devils their best chance in the second overtime, with a little more than 30 seconds to play. However, his 20-yard strike was tipped out by the UVA goalie as time expired.
The Cavaliers had a whopping 22-9 shot advantage.
The ACC slate continues for the Blue Devils as they face NC State on Friday night.
