Duke men number 2 seed in NIT

The Duke men’s basketball team was named the number two seed in the 2013 NIT Season Tip-Off. It was announced on Tuesday by the selection committee chair.

Duke men's basketball huddleThe Blue Devils have won three straight Preseason NIT Tournaments, with 2009 being the most recent. They have also won six straight in-season tourneys since 2007.

The Blue Devils will host their first two tournament matchups at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The first game comes on November 18th at 7pm ET against UNC Asheville (ESPNU). The second game will be on November 19th at 6pm ET against either East Carolina (the seven seed) or Norfolk State.

If Duke wins their first two games, they will head to the semifinal matchup at Madison Square Garden on November 27th. There they will face one of four teams from the other group: three seed Alabama, Georgia State, McNeese State, or Stillman College.

The NIT Season Tip-Off Championship Game will be televised on ESPN on November 29th at 6pm ET.

 

The other top eight teams in the tournament include top seed Arizona, four seed Rutgers, five seed Rhode Island, six seed Elon and eight seed Drexel.
