With former President George HW Bush in attendance at Cameron Indoor Stadium, the Duke men’s basketball team beat NC State, 95-60 and all of the available Blue Devils played.
The last two games there has been a completely different team on the court for Duke (Coach K used the same starting lineup that worked against Virginia during the week). Sure, the ACC’s leading scorer, TJ Warren, got his points (23 and he averages 22 points per game), but no one else scored more than nine points.
The Blue Devils scored 33 points off 21 NC State turnovers (they had 14 steals). They out-rebounded the Wolfpack 35-32 and 14-11 on the offensive glass.
The Duke offense shot 50% from the field and had 19 assists on 33 made field goals. They also made 11-of-24 three pointers and 18-of-21 free throws.
Freshman Jabari Parker led the way with 23 points on 7-of-14 shooting. He also hauled in seven rebounds and had three steals. Rodney Hood added 11 points and Quinn Cook chipped in ten points. Hood was the only Blue Devil to play thirty minutes.
Off the bench, Duke had two double-digit scorers: Rasheed Sulaimon and Andre Dawkins. Sulaimon scored 13 points and dished out six assists, while Dawkins scored 11 points. Josh Hairston came off the bench to haul in five rebounds, four on the offensive end. Tyler Thornton filled the stat sheet on Saturday afternoon: six points, three rebounds, three assists, and four steals.
The Blue Devils look to win three in a row when they travel to Miami on Wednesday night.
