After losing another road game and another game in the ACC to drop to 1-2 in the conference, the Duke men’s basketball team dropped once again in the weekly polls. There was talk that the Blue Devils might drop out of the polls for the first time since 2007, but they remained in both polls. They have been ranked in the top 25 519 out of the last 570 weeks since 1982.
The Blue Devils are number 23 in the AP Poll and number 20 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
Arizona is still the number one team in the country with a 17-0 record. With 11 top 25 teams losing last week, six new teams jumped into the polls.
There are now three ACC teams ranked in the top 15. Syracuse remains at number two with a 16-0 record. Pittsburgh is one of those six new teams to be ranked. The Panthers are number 22 in the AP Poll and number 21 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
The Blue Devils look to start a winning streak tonight as they welcome Virginia to Cameron Indoor Stadium. They will then host NC State on Saturday afternoon (2pm ET on CBS).
The Duke women’s basketball team remained ranked at number three in the AP Poll this week with a 16-1 record, as they won the program’s 800th game on Sunday afternoon. Undefeated UConn remains the top team in the country at 17-0 and puts that record to the test tonight, as they play at number seven Baylor.
There are still six ACC teams ranked. Notre Dame remains the number two team in the country at 15-0. Maryland (14-1) is number six and North Carolina (14-3) moved into the top ten at number eight after a win over Florida State this weekend. FSU is ranked at number 17 (14-2). NC State comes in at number 20 at 15-2.
The Blue Devils will host Virginia on Thursday night.
