Duke football pounds NC Central

The Duke football team opened their 2013 season with a victory over visiting NC Central, 45-0. It was their first shutout since November of 1989 (North Carolina).

duke_football_helmetThe Blue Devils out-gained NC Central 488-184. 257 of those yards came on the ground. Seven different Duke players scored touchdowns. NC Central was held to just nine first downs.

Duke scored 14 points each over the first three quarters before a Ross Martin field goal in the fourth quarter closed out the scoring.

Jela Duncan rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown, while Josh Snead rushed for 53.

In his second career start, quarterback Anthony Boone went 16-for-20 for 176 yards. He also added a rushing touchdown. Backup QB Brandon Connette threw two TD passes and rushed for another.
