The Duke football team opened their 2013 season with a victory over visiting NC Central, 45-0. It was their first shutout since November of 1989 (North Carolina).
Duke scored 14 points each over the first three quarters before a Ross Martin field goal in the fourth quarter closed out the scoring.
Jela Duncan rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown, while Josh Snead rushed for 53.
In his second career start, quarterback Anthony Boone went 16-for-20 for 176 yards. He also added a rushing touchdown. Backup QB Brandon Connette threw two TD passes and rushed for another.
