The Duke field hockey team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament with an easy 6-1 victory over New Hampshire. The Blue Devils are fifth ranked nationally and the four seed in their bracket. They are also hosting the first and second rounds of their bracket.
Senior Emmie Le Marchand recorded her first hat trick of the season. Her first goal came at the 9:54 mark. Her final goal came at the 65:12 mark (it was also Duke’s sixth goal of the day). She now has 15 goals on the season. Le Marchand also had an assist on Abby Beltrani‘s goal at the 61:52 mark.
It was just 2-1 at the half before Duke erupted for four goals in the second half. Duke had the edge on shots (18-9) and corners (4-2).
Duke goalie Lauren Blazing finished with two saves, both coming in the first half.
The Blue Devils will face the winner of Virginia-UMass on Sunday.
