The KC Royals announced that their slogan for the 2013 season is “Come to Play”.
It is a campaign that spotlights the game experience with an invitation for fans to go to Kauffman Stadium and soak in the excitement of seeing the Royals play.
This campaign will be seen beginning in spring training and right through the 2013 season in TV ads and radio ads, newspaper ads, outdoor boards, and online banners. It was done in partnership with the Kansas City based ad agency Walz Tetrick. Here is what WTA President Charlie Tetrick had to say (via the Royals press release):
“Nothing beats going out to The K to be part of the Major League Baseball experience. With the offseason additions, this year’s team is a great combination of youth, experience and leadership. Every pitch is an opportunity for something exciting and unexpected to happen. When you add in the sights, sounds and smells of The K, it’s a unique experience that people throughout Royals territory treasure. From the players and fans to the K Crew and Sluggerrr, ‘Come to Play’ is a rally cry that encompasses all of the excitement that is Royals baseball.”
Speaking of television spotlights, the Royals will have 142 of their games televised on FOX Sports Kansas City in 2013. Two of the games will be of the exhibition variety (March 25th versus the LA Angels and March 27th versus the Chicago Cubs), with the other 140 being regular season games. 67 will be road games and 73 are home games. Opening Day in Chicago on April 1st will be televised along with the Royals home opener on April 8th against Minnesota.
Ryan Lefebvre will call 90 regular season games and one exhibition for Fox Sports Kansas City and Steve Physioc will provide the play-by-play on the other 50 games during the season and one exhibition.
